Accident & Emergence
From 2005 to 20012 artist Ellie Howitt and I co-ran the artist-led project Accident & Emergence (A&E). Fowle Hall Features and Pistols & Pollinators were our longest-running and most popular projects.
Fowle Hall Features (FHF)
Fowle Hall Features was an annual event where artists, poets, musicians, writers, dancers, art therapists and film-makers were invited to gather and share their ideas and their work. FHF took place in an apple orchard in Kent, where Ellie and I erected a stage for performances, a marquee for workshops, and modified stables so that they could be used as an exhibition space.
FHF participants were invited to camp in the orchard, or if this was not an option for them, to stay in the adjacent Oast House.
Below is a small selection of photographs from the FHF weekends held in 2009 and 2010.

Pistols & Pollinators
Pistols & Pollinators (P&P) paired artists and poets to work collaboratively towards an exhibition. Each project began with an introductory session were participants were given the opportunity to decide who they would like to collaborate with through creative 'speed dating', writing and drawing exercises and a shared lunch.
The photographs below show promotional flyers, images from the introductory sessions, and a selection of exhibited collaborative works.
Huge thanks to Jacqueline Saphra and Katrina Naomi for their help coordinating Pistols & Pollinators and encouraging so many incredible poets to take part, and to Peter Daniels for photographing the works created during Pistols & Pollinators 2.
